When I interviewed for the children's pastor position 3 years ago, the board told me they needed someone to come here and think about kidz ministry all the time - not someone to come here and do all of the work. They said "we have plenty of workers." What did they mean by "plenty?" Plenty certainly did not mean a handful.
Plenty of workers the last couple of weeks for VBS meant 61!!! How do you tell 61 people who helped in VBS "thank you!!" How you do you let them know how much their help made a difference.
You had a huge impact on a child’s life if you: baked cookies, painted flowers, cut out leaves, made waves, painted surfer dudes, climbed on a ladder to hang decorations, helped register children, picked up children, passed out invitations, sat with children, allowed a little boy to sit (wiggle) on your lap during VBS, took care of 12 two and three year olds, watched the nursery, came early for prayer time, filled water bottles, washed water bottles, gave offering for the Haiti Water Project, put 1,000 cookies into baggies, laughed with a child, sang, prayed at the altar with a child, invited people at WalMart, acted goofy, spent hours every day making balloon characters, delivered a message, kissed a pig – and probably many more unknown acts of kindness. Jesus said I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me. Thank you for Giving to the Lord.
